Book Club 2024 | Field Trip

Join us for our first-ever book club field trip to the Pryor Mountain Mustang Sanctuary outside of Billings, MT, on July 13. The center will provide a brief presentation, followed by a self-guided tour to see the site and horses.
Last fall, we delved into "Desert Chrome" by Kathryn Wilder, a powerful narrative intertwining grief, motherhood, and a return to the desert. Wilder's story on the Colorado Plateau, bordering a mustang herd, celebrates America's mustangs and explores ways to protect them and their habitats in the arid West.
Inspired by these themes and our love for horses, we decided to organize this field trip to experience firsthand the sanctuary's connection to the natural world and the wild mustangs that inhabit it.

The Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center is located just east of Lovell, Wyoming, on Highway 14A. It is situated east of the Cal S. Taggart Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area Visitor Center:
