Composting. You’ve heard of it, you probably know someone who composts and swears to you how easy it is! But maybe getting started sounds daunting.  Greens and browns, ratios, chemistry? That’s a lot of variables. What’s the point anyway? food biodegrades in landfills, right? Wrong!

Wasting food is bad for a number of reasons, but mostly people attribute it to throwing money away or thinking about folks who would have been grateful to consume what you scraped off your plate. But did you know that food waste also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions? Composting is a great solution, and it really is easy to get started. And no, you do not need to buy a fancy bin. In this class we will learn the basics of how to get your bin started, what can or cannot go into your compost, and why it is much better than throwing food in the trash!
