Shanti Project Mission District
3170 23rd Street
San Francisco, CA 94110
On Saturday, Sept 9, the Bay Area community will come together to celebrate the life and work of local visual artist, poet and musician Riki Chen. A much-beloved multi-talent, Riki sadly passed away from a brain tumor and in the years since, his life's work and philosophy have continued to inspire. A special memorial exhibition of his vibrant artwork at Shanti Project's Mission District location will be punctuated by concert performances from a handful of his close friends and colleagues including singer-songwriter/poet/painter Rachael Sage, Jim Washington, Lady Sunrise, Dewayne Oakley, Wayne Anderson, and Bryant Bolling.
All net proceeds (from the event itself and fundraising efforts leading up to it) will benefit local organization Shanti Project, a pioneering nonprofit whose mission is to "build human connections to reduce isolation, enhance health and well-being, and improve quality of life." Those attending will also receive a commemorative book featuring Riki's watercolor paintings, reproduced especially for the exhibition.
Tickets are on sale and donations are being accepted now.
