Recovery after Mormonism Workshop w/ Dr. Steven Hassan and Dr. John Dehlin











Workshop Description: Please join us for a 1 day workshop with the world's leading cult expert and Dr. Steven Hassan (founder of the BITE model), and the host of Mormon Stories Podcast Dr. John Dehlin.  The focus for the all-day workshop will be on the following:

  1. How to more fully recover in a healthy way after exiting Mormonism, or any other high demand religion and/or cult.  This area includes topics such as healthy identity development, decision-making, and sexuality.
  2. How to have healthier relationships with still-believing family and friends who remain in the religion and/or cult.
  3. How to more effectively help loved ones leave controlling people, cults and beliefs. 

Date and Time: March 19th, 2023 from 9am to 5pm.  

Location: Alpine, Utah.  Venue information will be shared after registration.  Registration will be capped at 250.


Speaker Bios

  • Dr. Steven Hassan is an American author, educator and mental health counselor specializing in destructive cults (sometimes called exit counseling). He has been described by media as "one of the world's foremost experts on mind control, cults and similar destructive organizations." He is a former member of the Unification Church, and has written on the subject of mind control and how to help people who have been harmed by the experience. He created the BITE Model evaluation of controlling social groups to quantify cult-like behavior.  His books include "Combating Cult Mind Control" and "Freedom of Mind: Helping Loved Ones Leave Controlling People, Cults, and Beliefs."
  • Dr. John Dehlin is the host of Mormon Stories Podcast, and has been supporting Mormons in faith crisis for 20+ years.  John has a Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, and his work has been featured in the New York Times, National Public Radio, ABC's Good Morning America and Nightline, HBO's Vice News Tonight, the Wall Street Journal, etc.  John's academic research has centered on the nexus of mental health and religion, and on the LGBTQ/Mormon experience.
