Chestnut Hall Fall StoryFest, a fundraiser for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, October 15 starting at 2 pm. Held on the grounds of the picturesque sanctuary farm, StoryFest combines live music, storytelling tents and loads of fun for kids all to benefit the TRF’s herd of retired racehorses.
There will be ghost stories and personal memoirs from Kentucky Storytellers, Chip & Diane Bailey as well as the story of the historic Chestnut Hall, a tale that started just after the French and Indian war.
At 3 pm, there will be a front porch concert from the bluegrass band, Ida Clare alongside activities for the whole family. Our Kid’s Corral, sponsored by LDG Development, will feature a storytelling tent, pumpkin decorating, facepainting and interaction with our friendly group of retired Thoroughbred racehorses.
As the day winds down, we’ll gather for Bluegrass & Boos in the pasture, sponsored by Zeppa’s Landscaping Service. We will kick things off at 6:30 with the vocal harmonies and contemporary instrumentation of the Mama Said String Band. Acclaimed storyteller, Col. Bob Thompson will bring haunted tales to the stage, including some from Oldham Co.
There will be food and beverage trucks onsite all day with delicious offerings to complement the festive atmosphere.
Guests can purchase a ticket for the afternoon or for Bluegrass & Boos. A discounted full day pass is available . Blankets and stadium chairs are encouraged for both events and we suggest all guests wear practical footwear!
