Big Dig Day - Massanutten Western Slope

The Big Dig Day is a volunteer trail-building event on the Western Slope of Massanutten. Volunteers will work together to perform finish work on our newest mechanized trail build(s) and other projects. Prior trail building experience is NOT necessary. On-site training and instruction will be provided so volunteers can work safely, confidently, and effectively.

Volunteers are encouraged to choose the 11 am-2 pm) or the 2-5 pm shift, or if possible join us for the entire event and take advantage of the whole experience which will include food, drink, and festivities. This event is being intentionally designed to be not just a productive volunteer event, but a fun, family-friendly day in the woods with friends old and new! Bonus… if you’re a volunteer who needs to get your volunteer hours in to earn your annual Western Slope trail pass, you have the opportunity to get them all in in a single day!

Lunch, dinner, and adult beverages will be provided for all participants. Lunch will be DIY sandwiches and sides which will be packed up and taken out to the project site(s). Once the workday is done we will all gather back at ground zero for dinner from Hank’s BBQ, hand-cut boardwalk-style french fries from Just Fries, beer from Elkton Brewing, and cider/hard seltzers.
