For the over a million people in the U.S. with Parkinson's staying Even is Winning! Boxers with Parkinson's has created a powerful and comprehensive Parkinson's assessment and research platform giving people with PD, their families and their support team never before available insights into their fight against the symptoms of PD.
BwP's Parkinson's Assessment & Research System, PARS, is a powerful platform for standardized assessments, detailed reports and advanced analytics stored in the cloud for anytime, anywhere access. The goal is to help people with PD improve and maintain their quality of life for as long as possible by tracking the progression of their symptoms and functional performance via regular professional assessments. Every client has their own private portal to review and share their assessment history with family and medical professionals.
PARS is optimized for the Rock Steady Boxing network of over 43,000 boxers with Parkinson's who use boxing-themed exercise programs to fight their disease. BwP will soon expand beyond the Rock Steady Boxing network to include the greater PD community working with Parkinson's foundations, physical therapists and neurologists. PARS gives people with PD greater insights into and a greater understanding of their condition and will help coaches, physical therapists and medical professionals develop exercise and therapeutic programs to help in the fight against PD. PARS participants tell us that knowing how they are really doing, good or bad, motivates them to fight to stay even.
BwP will conduct direct research including studying if and how exercise can slow the progression of PD. PARS is a robust research platform for universities and other research groups to perform large-scale, long-term studies.
BwP needs your support to roll PARS out to the Rock Steady Boxing network, to expand our services to other Parkinson's communities, and to develop the next generation of Parkinson's assessment and progression analysis tools. With over one million people with Parkinson's in the US alone, the need is huge.
