Supporting the English Skills Learning Center

I’m proud to serve as the Executive Director of the English Skills Learning Center, where I see the impact of our work every day. The ESLC provides free English, literacy, civics, family literacy, and workplace training programs for adult learners across Salt Lake County. Our learners are parents, workers, caregivers, and newly arrived neighbors who bring rich experiences and skills. What many of them need is access to language, literacy, and educational opportunities that will help them reach their goals.

This year, demand for classes has grown faster than our funding. Even with federal cuts and increased community need, our team remains committed to providing high-quality instruction and building programs that open doors for learners.

Your support makes that possible. Every contribution has a direct impact on people like Joyce, pictured here. Joyce graduated from the ESLC last year and is now studying to become a CNA. She traveled with me to Dallas earlier this year to participate in leadership and public speaking training, so she can share her story with others (it's powerful!). Her progress reflects what can happen when learners have the support and opportunities they need.
