When I began working with the ESLC, I knew I would quickly come to love the communities that we serve, and that has certainly been the case. Our classes are full of people who are eager to learn, motivated to achieve, and grateful for the opportunities they have. Our learners include refugees, immigrants, and more. I am continually impressed by their determination to succeed in spite of the challenges they face.

For 34 years, the ESLC has provided free literacy tutoring and related classes across Salt Lake County. Many of these are taught by dedicated volunteers. The positive impact of our classes goes beyond learning English as we strive to break language and cultural barriers in order to create a community where all voices are celebrated.
