Goal

In October 2020, I started teaching English to many of my international friends. I enjoyed curating lessons to fit their needs and watching them improve. In the process I gained such a deeper understanding of languages in general. Later on, I moved to other online platforms where I teach English to people around the world as a freelance teacher. It became clear to me that so many people are wanting to improve their English Skills but not everyone has the resources to obtain great guidance or instruction.

When I graduated from BYU in 2021, I learned that the English Skills Learning Center in Salt Lake City was hiring. I felt it was the perfect fit for me as I was wanting to work amid an international community doing impactful work.

I work as the ESLC's citizenship program coordinator and I have loved it! I get to watch and help beautiful people who have come to the USA from all over the world. The ESLC specializes in helping people who may have never attended school in their home country or even learned how to read their native tongue. Preparing for the U.S. citizenship interview can be daunting and the ESLC does our best to help people prepare for every aspect of the exam.

Please help me support the ESLC and their mission through our September Fundraising Campaign. Your donation will ensure that immigrants and refugees in the Salt Lake City area will have access to free English education and civics classes.

For 34 years, the ESLC has been providing free literacy and civics tutoring and small group classes across Salt Lake County. With our focus on two-way mutual integration, our classes are about much more than learning English. We aim to break language and cultural barriers in order to create a community where ALL voices are celebrated. September is also Adult Education and Family Literacy Month, so we are inviting YOU to join us in offering free and accessible adult education classes. Help integrate and strengthen communities by donating today!

P.S. Our team is having a friendly competition (with incentives) to see who can raise the most money between September 1st-September 30th. If you have loved working with or learning from one of our team members, reach out to them to donate directly on their campaign page!

The English Skills Learning Center is a Section 501(c) (3) charitable organization, EIN 87-0467902. All donations are deemed tax-deductible absent any limitations on deductibility applicable to a particular taxpayer. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your contribution.
