Every week, in all weathers, our Volunteer Environmental Rangers are hard at work in the Huddersfield Riverside Nature Park, a vital green space at the heart of our community. Their commitment helps protect and enhance this unique riverside habitat, ensuring it remains a place where both people and wildlife can thrive.

From tackling invasive species like Himalayan balsam to clearing litter and waste left along the riverbanks, their efforts make a visible difference. They also maintain paths and access routes, opening up the park for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks to their dedication, more people can experience the natural beauty of Kirklees, while the diverse habitats of this special part of West Yorkshire are carefully preserved for the species that call it home.

All the fabulous work our Volunteer Environmental Rangers do is planned and supervised by our volunteer co-ordinator Gilly Dukes, an ecologist and highly skilled educator. But we need your help! Because we are a not-for-profit we have limited funding available to continue carrying out this work. Your donation would mean we are able to run more volunteer sessions giving our local wild places some much needed TLC.
