Since we launched Neighborfood Express in November 2020, the program has grown in ways we never could have imagined! What started out as a simple hunger relief effort has evolved into a community-wide initiative, lifting dozens of kids and families permanently out of food insecurity each week.

According to recent studies, more than 14 million children nationwide live in food insecure households. Persistent youth hunger has many harmful effects, including reduced mental health and academic performance, which often result in less-than-favorable long-term outcomes for kids. 

To combat this problem at its roots, we're expanding Neighborfood Express by creating food & resource pantries on the campuses of local schools! For this reason, we’ve launched Operation End Young Hunger, which will provide us with the funding we need to stock the pantries with the same items we provide for the families we serve each week:

• Healthy fruits, vegetables, snacks, and nonperishable goods

• Diapers & baby products

• Clothing, shoes, and undergarments

• Computers, tablets, and advanced technology

Taking this comprehensive approach will allow us to help not only the students affected by food insecurity, but their families as well - boosting our impact even further!

For Phase 1 of our expansion efforts, we’ll be stocking pantries at the following schools:

• Southeast Raleigh Elementary
• Washington Magnet Elementary
• Rogers Lane Elementary
• Walnut Creek Elementary

We’ll be adding more schools soon - including local colleges!
