On Sunday, April 23rd we were contacted by activists to take in 10 dogs rescued from a meat trader's truck in another region. We hadn't planned on doing any more rescues for a while, due to limited resources.

However, seeing the heartbreaking videos it was impossible to turn away. 


For each new rescue, we always anticipate a minimum cost of $500 at the vet, and that's only if they have no contagious diseases or bad injuries. Otherwise, the costs can quickly skyrocket. 


The dogs all arrived late last night and are still being assessed. One dog has a significant wound and damage to the ear, one greyhound has a large external tumour. They're all currently undergoing standard tests for contagious diseases. The  2 small dogs in the green bag are extremely traumatised and scared. 


We will never know the true extent of their suffering but it's reasonable to assume they have already suffered incomprehensible cruelty. We're humbly appealing for help to cover their initial vet care costs, while we ascertain what care is needed for each one.



 

The act of rescue saves lives but it’s the subsequent care that makes the real difference.  No amount is too small and helps us to make a difference to animals that have witnessed the worst of humanity.
