At Elevate Tutoring, we believe that these disparities between students of different socioeconomic levels are not reflective of intrinsic aptitude, but rather, years of underinvestment. Too many students face systemic barriers to high-quality STEM education and the social-emotional support they need to thrive. At the same time, first-generation college students often struggle with the financial and academic pressures of pursuing a STEM degree. Our Tutor Fellowship Program tackles both challenges at once.
We provide low-income, first-generation college students (our Tutor Fellows) with scholarships, professional development opportunities, access to mental health resources, individualized mentorship, and more. In return, they provide free, high-quality STEM tutoring and powerful near-peer guidance to underserved K-12 students across their own communities.
This model doesn’t just help students pass a class. It builds confidence, belonging, and long-term access to higher education, opening doors that might otherwise stay shut.
Over the past 14 years, our Fellows have delivered 33,000 hours of free STEM tutoring to local students, while earning over $1.6 million in scholarships to pursue their own paths to-and-through college.
