" If young people in postwar states can utilize technology to unlock career pathways, build stable livelihoods and reinforce their democracies, they reduce their vulnerability to the cycle of poverty, inequality and conflict." -UNICEF
YAI has a simple target: ensure that every high school in Liberia and Sierra Leone has a computer lab within five years.
Currently, less than 5% of high schools in either country has a functioning computer lab. About 95% of high school seniors will graduate without basic computer skills. Across Africa, UNICEF estimates that only 8% of students have access to a computer and 14% have access to the internet at home.
YAI accomplishes its mission by establishing computer labs for high schools, hosting community-based computer training workshops and creating applications that foster digital learning. This enables beneficiaries to access distant learning opportunities, qualify them for certain jobs, and creates new earning opportunities.
Your generous support helps us bring more young people closer to learning basic computer skills to help them unlock opportunities not currently available to them.
To ensure that a majority of donations go directly into program activities, Youth Action International is run by a very small team. Our model ensures that 90% of donation goes directly into the programs. For every $1 donated, $0.90 goes into digital training for young people.
We thank you for your support.
