In the history of sailing, "all hands on deck" has an important and singular meaning – one of urgency and need. Community Boating is now calling for "all hands on deck"! We are appealing – with urgency – for your financial support.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought all of us to some very difficult times. At Community Boating, we are profoundly modifying our 2020 season to safeguard the health and safety of our sailors and staff alike.
We found it heartbreaking, but necessary, to cancel our Junior Program entirely – the stringent requirements for safe boating and youth programs made it impossible to give our young sailors any semblance of the quality programs we strive to give them.
For our adult members, we hope to make it possible for many to experience sailing and paddling opportunities – but we know that this year's experience will be nothing like "normal". These are not normal times.
All of this has drastic impacts on CBI's financial position. We are running at a fraction of our normal operating revenues while incurring the operational costs necessary to maintain healthy and safe boating operations. And even though we have applied emergency reserves and have secured loans that will help keep us underway through the summer months, we must seek your support to make sure we can return to full operations in 2021.
We can’t afford to risk losing what we all so enjoy – sailing in the heart of the city. For the sake of our youth sailors, for sailors in our accessible programs, for ourselves, we mustn’t take Community Boating for granted.
Please join us now in supporting our Mission – “Sailing for All” – a Mission we have proudly fulfilled for so many years in bringing the joys of sailing to people of all abilities, all ages, and all means. Your generous gift now, in any amount you can afford, will help carry us into the launching of our 75th year.
Our goal is to raise $100,000. Your tax-deductible support is critical and deeply appreciated.
It is indeed time for “all hands on deck”!
