We are not currently able to accept donations via Paypal. We are working to resolve the problem and apologize for the inconvenience.
The current needs for social distancing and the devastating effects of COVID-19 have dealt a critical blow to the tourism industry. The Guides of the Gorget was founded on the principles of protecting guides (throat armor). If you are able to donate even a small gift we ensure you that all funds will be shared with tour guides in need.
We are in a rapidly changing and difficult situation created by the Corona Virus. The 'opening up' of the economy and removal of touring restrictions will still leave tour guides in difficult financial straits for 2020. We intend to work on a sponsorship campaign letters requesting donations from leaders in the tourism, preservation, and government in Charleston.
Our plan is to collect donations for the rest of the year. Starting in November, we plan to make food and home essentials available to Charleston tour guides. This will allow a more public method for the distribution of the donated funds. It will also allow Guides of the Gorget to be transparent with the funding with receipts for food purchases. As we are all aware, the world is changing on a daily basis and we are willing to change to another strategy based on feedback from the tour guide community. Please contact Brian McFarland via email, brian AT guidesofthegorget.com with suggestions. If you are willing or able to provide volunteer assistance for this project please let us know.
