The oldest theatre in town is also the newest.
Built in 1951, abandoned in 2004 and rescued in 2011, The Legacy Theatre has emerged as an eclectic new voice in the central Illinois arts landscape. Our audiences have discovered new and exciting works in all aspects of the performing arts: theatre, dance, music, film, and events for families – all find a home at The Legacy.
The Legacy Theatre project has been accomplished entirely through ticket sales and private donations. We have not asked for or received any local, state or federal funds; no grant monies, no TIF funds. We have a policy at The Legacy: "we don’t buy anything until we can pay for it." That ensures that the theatre remains debt-free and on a solid fiscal footing.
We appreciate your consideration of a charitable gift to The Legacy Theatre. You may select a one-time gift, or help even more with a recurring monthly donation.
Fundamentally, your gift to The Legacy Theatre protects and nurtures a regional treasure. A facility that found its roots in the post-war era of the early 1950’s has discovered new life in a new century; alive once again, filled with laughter and applause. Your donation will enable The Legacy to continue to restore our building, and present the quality productions you expect from us.
We appreciate your consideration, and thank you for believing in The Legacy Theatre.
