Historically, less than 1% of all philanthropic funding is given to women of color. Organizations like ours in the South are even further under-resourced. As an all-women-of-color team (most of whom are personally impacted by the criminal legal system), our strategies advance movement authenticity and equity by requiring investment in historically undervalued labor: Black and brown women, and women with incarcerated loved ones.
Texas Jail Project relies on public donations to do our urgent and essential work challenging mass incarceration at its front door: the county jail. Your donations help us monitor jail conditions, disburse direct aid, support pretrial diversion, and craft groundbreaking storytelling projects that uplift the experiences of incarcerated community members.
