Goal
According to DataUSA, in 2019, only about 5.42% of Blacks and 2.75% of Latinos are in the Urban and Regional Planning occupation. Only 36.6% of women are Urban and Regional Planners in the same year. The data doesn't show the percentage of Black and Latino women and Urban and Regional Planners. This is also happening in the Environmental Science, Architecture, and GIS fields.
Many low-income communities are designed and planned by those pursuing the above fields or degrees. They play a crucial role in what happens to our communities and who is on the decision-making table.
Bronx Institute for Urban Systems' goal is to increase awareness of these fields through its services. The main is education.
Our Services:
We are looking for support from individuals and organizations to provide the services and education to diversity those fields. The funds will go toward programming development, office space, and using educational tools to inform people about these disciplines and learn the tools used in these disciplines.
