Agriculture is the number one means of survival for the people of Africa. 80% of rural African families depend on farming to feed their families. Farming families typically have small plots of land to work with. The struggle to grow enough food to survive is a major challenge due to poor soil, extreme weather conditions, pests and other factors which pose great barriers for decent crop outcome.
66% of Africa’s land is used to graze animals. Livestock serve to provide needed food, dairy products, and these animals are used to assist in ploughing the fields of farming families. Poor families seek to earn a livelihood from the sale of animal products and from the sale of their livestock. Creating a sustainable family farming cooperative can assist in securing a sound future for the next generation of families in the rural area of Gusoro, Nigeria where Fr. Nnadozie is serving these disadvantaged families.
DMMI coupled with Shalom Touch A Life Outreach Ministries seek to provide the necessary materials to grow the sustainable family farming cooperative into a thriving farming community for future generations.
The dignity of work and sustainability go hand in hand. Help to secure a better tomorrow for the people of Gusoro, Nigeria.
