Goal
Kyaka II Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda is home to more than 140,000 refugees, mainly from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan, and thousands of refugee children continue to face serious barriers to accessing primary education due to poverty, overcrowded classrooms, lack of scholastic materials, limited school infrastructure, trauma, and inability to afford school-related costs.
It is estimated that over 15,000 refugee children in Kyaka II are out of school, representing nearly 30% of school-age children in the settlement, exposing them to risks of child labor, early marriage, exploitation, and hopelessness about their future. In response to this challenge, Let’s Help International (LHI) has taken the initiative to support 65 vulnerable refugee children through the provision of scholastic materials, school uniforms, school fees, and psychosocial support to help them remain in school and rebuild hope for a better future.
However, the needs remain overwhelming, and we humbly call upon individuals, partners, and well-wishers to support this cause so that we can continue helping these children and extend support to many more refugee children in need of education and protection.
Euthalie Dusengeyezu, Executive Director, Let’s Help International, Uganda.
