Deadly and historic flooding has devastated Eastern Kentucky, destroying both residents’ homes and their lives as they had previously known them. Last Sunday, we sent a team of staff members to the site of the flooding in Kentucky with water and cleaning supplies to aid in the flood relief.
Today, as the death toll continues to rise and rescuers are still on the scene in Eastern Kentucky, we know the affected residents need more than our thoughts and prayers at this time. Many of our SEIU Union brothers and sisters in Eastern Kentucky have lost their homes and are in need of support.
It is for that reason that we are creating the SEIU District 1199 Flood Relief fund. Any donations contributed to the fund will be passed directly to SEIU District 1199 members in need. Excess contributions will be donated to the ARH foundation Flood Relief Fund.
Our hearts go out to those who have lost their homes and loved ones amidst this tragedy. If you are a member of SEIU 1199 who has been impacted by the flood, please reach out to Sherri McKinney at (304)-840-5993 or smckinney@seiu1199.org for additional details on how SEIU 1199 can help provide aid for you and your family.
