On 9/11 I was 18 years old and scheduled to go to work babysitting in Seattle, WA. After the towers were hit, I stayed home instead.
Yesterday I went to work.
In honor, I want to donate the money I would have made babysitting that day.
Thank you for your service and inspiration ❤️🤍💙

Ran 3 miles today, one for every life lost on 9/11. Running in pain with a broken toe but honoring the courage and resilience of those who never got to finish. This mile is not mine alone — we remember.

I lived in NY for 30 yrs. Was in my car as the first plane struck & my radio went to static. I turned towards the city on the overpass to see the 1st plume of smoke rising & said ‘shit, that’s not good.’ I arrived home in time to watch the second plane hit. A friend was supposed to have an interview that morning. They called to reschedule for 2 hrs later. It saved his life. He decided to get in a run, just blocks from the towers. It took us most of the day to find out if he was alive, since the cell towers were on top of the trade center and destroyed. Dozens of people I saw regularly on the Manhasset line never came home that night. It’s still haunts me today. I wish I could give more, but I’m retired now.
Thank you to you and your sister for your service!

9/11 changed not only American lives, but the lives of people around the world who felt its impact. I still get emotional every time I visit the memorial when I’m in the city. The loss, the courage, and the memories remain deeply moving. I will never forget.
