The value of human life is intrinsic and is not affected by our abilities, our stations, or our choices. Rather, choice creates the interconnectedness of mankind. This is a hard concept to accept for ourselves. It is not your choices that give your life value. Your value will never change no matter what you do. You are worth more than the stars in the sky. It is not based upon abilities, stations, race, socioeconomic status, nor whether you choose good or evil. Choice does matter, but it will never change our value. Rather, our choices garnish us with talents or intelligence and creates the interconnectedness of mankind. We can choose to garnish ourselves with intelligence, or give in to discouragement and diminish the light we exude. We can choose to help others—and thus help ourselves—or refuse, and diminish who we are. We have so much more in common than our differences, and we are far more connected than we think. Don’t forget to find those you can trust and reach out for help when you feel stuck. You matter. And what you do matters. a person affects a family, a family affects a community, a communities affects a nation. A Nation affects humanity as a whole. No matter how small, the things you do and say make a difference. Choosing to share your talents and skills with others helps create a ripple effect—one that eventually comes back and benefits us. So we hear another meaning in Christ’s words: “Do not hide your light under a bushel.” and the true meaning in Jon Don's poem “No Man is an Island”. For Whom the Bell Tolls by John Donne No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main.If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less.
