Named in honor and remembrance of our dear friend and Board Chairman, who gave so much nurturing and love to HSI, the Jim Miller Interactive Garden Project is initially to be located at HSI’s 555 Reactor Way facility, adjacent to the new outdoor patio area.
The vision is to have several above ground garden beds that will be tended by people with disabilities and gardening volunteers. Our goal is to create a unique and distinctive design for raised beds, some located outdoors and some indoors, to be tended year-round that can be accessed by everyone, including people in wheelchairs.
The Interactive Garden Project vision also includes finding public areas to place these unique garden beds in different locations in and around the Reno/Sparks area. People with disabilities and volunteers will also tend the community gardens, where they will provide splashes of life and color, just as Jim did.
The Project will begin with the formation of a steering committee, including the Miller family. The committee’s role will be to design, develop and implement this vision in his memory. If you are interested in volunteering, donating to the project or participating on the design committee, please contact Jimmy Breslin by filling out the form below or by calling 775-846-8008 or email him at [email protected].
