"This project is a response to both our changing climate and the critical need we have to find meaningful ways to heal our relationship with the soil, ourselves, and each other." - Juko Holiday, Ph.D
A care forest is a place in nature that is stewarded by people who have committed to practice compassion, healthy boundaries, and presence with people who visit and act as advocates for the health and balance of the trees and ecosystem. The aim is to combine small-scale conservation with intentional human connection to create better mental and environmental health.
The pilot project is a Redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains of just under 70 acres.
The majority of the land is a timber production zone, and I'm looking for people excited to partner with me in conserving this spectacular forest.
Donations help these incredible trees stay healthy and available to clean our emissions from the air while supporting restorative nature immersions for people living with trauma, grief, and loss.
Inspired by the care farm movement andinformed by research demonstrating the benefits of intentional contact with nature, a care forest is a stewarded space that promotes human and environmental restoration and balance.
