Hello,
As the current Board Trustee of San José Unified Area 4, I’m running to continue serving our community and to ensure that all students have the best opportunities to prepare themselves for lifelong success. I am a father of two children who attend Reed Elementary school, and my wife and I are proud to be raising our family here in San José. It is important that the voices of parents are heard and represented. I’ve worked at Apple for the past 12 years and I have a track record of success as a decision maker and as someone who solves problems analytically, creatively and collaboratively.
I believe strongly in community service. Prior to joining the board, I volunteered as an adult literacy tutor with the San José Public Library’s Partners in Reading program. Since 2016, I have served as a commissioner on the San José Library and Early Education Commission, and successfully advocated for the removal of late fees on all children’s materials. My experience on that commission has shown me the importance of improving city and school district partnerships in order to benefit all of our children. Our children deserve to live in a community that supports education from the day they are born.
I ask for your support to continue to serve San José Unified School District.
Thank you,
Michael Melillo
