This message brings an important update regarding the future of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) support for UNT student-athletes. As many of you know, the landscape of college athletics is evolving rapidly, and with new legislation going into effect on July 1, 2025, UNT Athletics is launching its own comprehensive NIL initiative under the umbrella of the newly rebranded Mean Green Athletic Fund (MGAF).

In light of these developments, and to ensure the most beneficial and compliant support for our student-athletes, the Mean Green Collective will be ceasing operations prior to July 1, 2025. We encourage you to redirect your generous contributions to the new UNT-sponsored Mean Green Athletic Fund. This transition offers significant benefits under the new legislation, including potential tax deductions for your contributions – something our independent collective was unable to provide. Please note that all donations to the Mean Green Collective will be discontinued before July 1, 2025. If you have any recurring auto-payments set up, you can also discontinue those at your convenience. If you have any questions or need assistance in this just let us know.

We are incredibly proud of what the Mean Green Collective has accomplished over the past two years. Together, we played a vital role in supporting UNT basketball during a truly historic run of success, including an unforgettable NIT Championship and two remarkable deep runs in the NIT, culminating in a Final Four appearance. Your contributions directly impacted the lives and opportunities of these talented student-athletes, and for that, we are deeply grateful. With your help, we were able to provide a bridge to continue the success that we had achieved in basketball during a a very uncertain time in college athletics.

We are excited about the future of student-athlete support at UNT through the Mean Green Athletic Fund and encourage you to continue your impactful contributions through this new university-affiliated avenue. We believe this transition will create an even stronger and more sustainable ecosystem for our student-athletes.
