We are grateful for all the assistance we have received over the past 5.5 years to support the daily operations of the McKinley Center on Lost Nation Road in Willoughby. This Center has been an incredible asset to western Lake County, serving on average 500 families each month in 2018 with food, taxable hygiene items, clothing, shoes, pet supplies and more.
Examples of what takes place at McKinley would include the following statistics from 2017: 1287 households served, 19,668 rolls of toilet paper given away, 76,775 pounds of food distributed, 16,762 volunteer hours accumulated, and $570,271 worth of used goods donated.
We partner with the Aspire/GED Adult Literacy program to offer GED preparation classes every Tuesday and Thursday morning during the academic year. MCOC works with the Lake County Council on Aging in the distribution of used durable medical goods. McKinley helps individuals find resources to meet other needs, through partnerships with 2-1-1/Lifeline, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Lake County Community Network, Lake County Free Clinic, the Willoughby-Eastlake Libraries, the Mentor libraries, and the Lake-Geauga Furniture Bank, to name a few.
There is an abundance beyond our wildest dreams of used donated household goods and clothes, but there are things we have to buy, such as food and taxables, the cornerstone of our ministry. In addition, we are located in a 97-year old "retired" school building. It needs lots of TLC!
Financial contributions, no matter how small, make a HUGE difference in helping us remain sustainable. In fact, they allow us to be able to keep doing what we do best: serving our own neighbors, in our own community, right where they live.
Any contribution you make is tax deductible as we are a 501 (c) 3 entity in the state of Ohio. HELP US CONTINUE TO HELP OTHERS ALL YEAR LONG!
