The South Philadelphia Shtiebel is a Jewish community building project in South Philadelphia that is deeply connected and warmly welcoming. It will be an inclusive spiritual home that empowers its community members to be active participants in Jewish life and Torah learning. Grounded in orthodox Jewish practice and fueled by the spirit of the new, the Shtiebel approaches Jewish community with a sense of inclusion, warmth, empowerment, and innovation.
Rabbanit Dasi Fruchter is able to take this leap due to seed funding from StartUp shul, an organization established to incentivize new and inclusive modern orthodox communities. But there is still a long way to go to ensure that the project can thrive and become financially sustainable. We need your partnership.
There are several reasons you may be inspired to make the Shtiebel a reality.
Maybe you’re more than ready to see more innovative opportunities for orthodox women to lead in the Jewish community and help it to thrive.
Perhaps you’re interested in the renewal of historic Jewish neighborhoods like South Philadelphia, or are ready for the city of of Philadelphia to join cities like Baltimore, New York, and Chicago in the startup spiritual community movement.
Or maybe you yourself live in South Philadelphia and are craving a Jewish space to call home, or you live elsewhere in the area and you would like to benefit from the programming and warmth at the Shtiebel.
The Shtiebel is seeking partners to invest with us at various levels.
Of course, a gift of any size is incredibly generous and will be used directly to build the makom kadosh (the holy space) we’ve discussed above.
