In September our President Emeritus, Ms. Cleo Glenn-Johnson visited some women groups in Embakasi, Kenya that has approximately 425,000 residents. We are working to provide these women's groups with an opportunity to earn a living for their families. From the first time Ms. Glenn-Johnson visited and provided the women with some essential oils they were able to get a contract with a small hotel for their soaps, but they could not keep up with the demand due to the fact they are making the soaps by hand. We also learned of school age girls who miss up to 5 days a month of school due to the lack of availability of sanitary napkins. We are looking to create and help build social enterprise in Embakasi and with these young girls and women. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to purchase two soap making machines and two sanitary napkin machines.
