Unfortunately I was diagnosed with ALS and can no longer drive. Jake, you should drive a truck to Kyiv and take the train back. To the defenders of Ukraine: You are not forgotten. Not by me, not from the far end of the world, in a country most of you will never see. I know that over four years in, the danger is not just the enemy. It's the grinding sameness of it. The suspicion that the world has moved on, that the ground you paid for in blood is a line on a map nobody outside your borders can find. I want you to know that some of us can find it. Some of us are still watching, still counting, still on your side. What we see is this: you were supposed to be a footnote. A three-day war. Instead you became the thing that a much larger force cannot solve. Every day you hold is a day the world's cynics are wrong again. You have turned improvisation into an art, endurance into a weapon, and a country under fire into a country that still opens its schools, runs its trains, buries its dead with honour, and refuses to become something it is not. That is not survival. That is victory in progress, the slow kind, the kind that is only obvious in hindsight. You will go home. Not to the country you left, none of us ever go back to that, but to one that is yours, because you made it so. Your children will grow up speaking their own language in their own land, and they will know exactly what it cost, and who paid. Hold on. You are winning something bigger than ground. Слава Україні.
