I send this in honor of my ancestors, some of whom endured Russian oppression in Kiev during the Czarist era and one of whom was a fisherman in northwestern Russia in the 1800s; heard that forced conscription was coming again to their village for the umpteenth time, got in his rowboat, and kept rowing until he reached the shores of some Baltic or Scandinavian country in that period. Eventually the fisherman's descendants, myself included, enjoyed freedom in America's Midwest.
