Goal

Give Compassion this Holiday Season

From Thanksgiving to the New Year, we need your help to open new doors for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are facing significant challenges.

A safe, affordable home is the foundation for independence, dignity, and growth. Yet, for individuals with developmental disabilities, finding such housing is a daunting struggle. Many are at risk of homelessness or institutionalization due to the severe shortage of accessible and affordable housing options.

The Need Is Great, and We Can't Do It Alone

We've been working tirelessly this past year to assist those with IDD in avoiding homelessness and institutionalization, but the demand continues to outpace our resources.

Here’s What We’ve Accomplished Together:

  • Expanded Our Reach: We opened a new office in Monterey County, located in Salinas, to enhance our advocacy efforts, better support our clients, and strengthen relationships with partner properties.
  • Advocated for Change: Through persistent advocacy, we secured San Mateo County’s commitment to adopt and implement a universal design ordinance, establish a formal reasonable accommodation policy, and reduce parking ratios for affordable housing developments—making housing more accessible for those who need it most.
  • Provided Essential Support: We distributed over $700,000 in rental assistance and security deposits to our clients, directly helping them secure safe and stable housing.

But There’s So Much More to Be Done

As we close out 2024, can we count on your continued commitment to support our growing initiatives?

Your gift can help provide basic household necessities to a resident living on their own for the first time or assist in paying interpreter costs for an individual signing their first lease. No gift is too big or too small—every dollar makes a difference in helping us advocate for and empower people with developmental and other disabilities to live independently in the community.

When we help those in need, we uplift the entire community.

Let’s make this holiday season a time of empowerment and compassion.
