Jean was the PNW Conference Administrative Secretary to 5 bishops from 1965 until her retirement in 1994. She loved her job and, we believe, would be thrilled by this opportunity to honor the PNW Conference's first female Bishop.

Malo 'aupito, Bishop Elaine, for your leadership. I am lucky among many to serve alongside you as you led your last annual conference, 2022. I will undoubtedly miss your strength, guidance, and insight, especially when I am now out of seminary life. May God continue to sanctify you for your devoted service.

Bishop Elaine, thank you for your tremendous, faithful, enduring witness to the beauty and wonder of all God's creation, and the healing power of the Gospel of Christ. Your heart for, and unflagging commitment to shining light upon the injustices of the world inspires me. I count it as my privilege to have served on the GNW Area Cabinet with you for six years. I enjoyed your calmness, openness, and empathy whenever we had a chance to meet with you or even see you from afar. Your efficiency and effectiveness was harder to see from looking at you, but we knew it was there and felt the effects. I also appreciated your dedication and rising to each occasion with grace, honesty and a desire to make it right.
