Goal
Cheers to family, friends, and all the meaningful connections that make our community stronger, including local advocates and supporters like you. As the year comes to a close, we’re filled with gratitude for everyone who joined us at festivals, online, and in our shared commitment to expanding affordable housing for people with developmental disabilities. Thanks to your support, we’ve made incredible progress this year and are excited to share the highlights and impact you helped make possible. We want to share a few highlights from 2025 and the impact your support has made.
Highlights from 2025:
We provided approximately 200 clients with financial assistance, including rental assistance and security deposits to our clients
We added a total of 3 new Partner Properties in the counties we support.
We had 347 “Move-ins” this year, helping clients attain better suited living arrangements.
We built stronger partnerships with local agencies and advocates, collaborating on panels and festivals to keep affordable housing and the needs of the IDD community at the forefront of priorities.
We have an average tenancy of 7 years across all Housing Choices’ Partner Properties.
Jimena: For more than 20 years, Macaria and her two daughters lived in a San Francisco apartment that worsened her older daughter Jimena’s (23) health needs. Despite repeated requests, the landlord never made repairs. After Macaria started working with her Housing Choices’ Housing Coordinator, she was able to obtain a safe, stable three bedroom apartment in a Housing Choices Partner Property for her family of four. Jimena now has her own room to support her routines and learning. Now, with better ventilation, more independence for Jimena, and nearby community resources, the family finally feels secure. Macaria is grateful for the stability and hopeful for the future for her two girls.
Nathan: Rachel and her two sons spent years moving between unstable living situations, often sharing a single room with people who did not understand her older son Nathan’s (10) disability-related needs. With support from the Housing Choices Housing Coordination and Lease Support Program, Rachel secured a three-bedroom home in Monterey County, along with assistance for deposits and essential household items. The new home finally gives the family the space they need — room for Nathan’s therapies, privacy for both children, and a safe yard Nathan loves. Rachel is grateful for the stability this home provides, her new employment at a nearby school, and is hopeful as she continues building a secure future for her family.
But many other kids and adults with developmental disabilities still need help, especially as Medical gets cut and inflation rises. Can we count on your support?
Your gift can help to provide basic household necessities to a resident living on their own for the first time or can assist in paying interpreter costs for an individual signing their first lease.
No gift is too big or too small and every dollar makes a difference in helping us advocate and empower people with developmental and other disabilities to live independently in the community.
