For our 35th World Relief Campaign, the students of SALT are partnering with the Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants (ICDI), a non-profit based in Chicago, Illinois that seeks to assist individuals and communities impacted by immigration detention, deportation, and post-detention. Many immigrants have a degree or certification that does not transfer to employment in the United States. Further, people who have been granted asylum do not qualify for educational loans or personal loans. Without additional education or training they will remain in very low-wage positions, even if qualified for a profession in their country of origin. This year's WRC is seeking to raise $25,000 to begin a fund for immigrants who have been detained and since received asylum to borrow from at low-interest rates in order to complete additional training or education to work in their chosen field. Please join SALT in this mission through supporting our World Relief Campaign, Funding Fresh Starts: Empowering Immigrants Through Education.
