I am alone in Moria with my two young children, Aisha (8) and Tahir (6). Before I spoke to European Lawyers in Lesvos I was completely lost. Their support helped me a lot. Thanks to them, I was able to understand the asylum process and explain in my interview why I left my country and cannot go back. They are a great help and give hope to the refugees in Moria. Fatima, 28, Syria.

There are currently almost 20,000 asylum seekers on the Greek island of Lesvos, the vast majority of whom have fled Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq. Over 17,000 of them are in Moria camp, more than six times its official capacity. On Samos, where we will begin a new project in June, almost 7,000 people live in Vathy camp, built to house just 700. In this context, ELIL’s role in providing legal assistance to asylum seekers on the islands is more vital than ever before.

Our work would not be possible without the incredible efforts of our staff and volunteers and the extremely generous support of people from across Europe and beyond. Your support is critical in enabling us to continue our work to defend human rights, uphold the rule of law and provide meaningful access to legal assistance.

You can donate by debit/credit card using the form to the left or by bank transfer (account details below), PayPal or GlobalGiving. We are extremely grateful for all donations.
