The most ambitious and exciting plan for 2021 is our collaboration with Un Mundo and Ciudad Mujer in Honduras. It has been said that Honduras is "the most dangerous place to be a woman". These organizations' work promote dignity, community and sustainable development. They facilitate education and resources for sustainable living to underserved communities in the northern region of La Ceiba. Initial planning between CAES and Un Mundo, began in 2017 and Ciudad Mujer joined the efforts in 2019. Together, we will provide professional development workshops for facilitators and project leaders in 14 centers across Honduras, that aim toward empowering women in building a sustainable future in which they can overcome the current world of violence, abuse and the impunities they suffer. Our work in Honduras will begin in April of 2021 and the plan is to continue providing them with support so they can thrive in autonomy. The goal of this collaboration will be to explore the possibilities for using art processes as a vehicle for entrepreneurial and social advancement, while establishing a sense of community and sustainable living among the participants. Given that the local funding is severely limited, this project will depend largely on donations and grants.
