Goal
On the 19th August (2019) a fire in a local settlement completely destroyed eight makeshift houses. We were lucky: only one person was injured. However the fire -caused by an electrical fault- displaced 44 children and 20 adults who are now without a home, without a place to sleep, and without any personal belongings.
Two days after the fire, we conducted an emergency distribution of blankets and mattresses. But we need to do more. Your donations will mean we will be able to distribute food packs, and to assist in the rebuilding of these eight homes if needed.
This event makes us truly realise the need of being prepared for emergency situations. Now we have given away all of our mattresses and most of our blankets, your donations will help us to be prepared in the event of another accident like this. Settlements are precarious places. Electrical fires and similar incidents are not uncommon.
Donate to buy mattresses, blankets, and food for refugees and asylum-seekers in emergency situations.
