Every year, with your generous support, we award scholarships to help children and young students overcome financial difficulties and continue their education.
Akademos Scholarship program enables the most talented yet disadvantaged young students to reach their full potential by providing financial and academic support throughout their college education. The financial support includes payment of tuition fees and other educational expenditure. Currently, in its eighth year, the program has thus far enabled 89 students, a majority of them girls, to attain college education, pursue their academic goals, and become responsible members of the community.
In 2017, in partnership with the ROYA Mentorship Program, we launched our Kids Off the Streets (KOTS) program in Afghanistan. The program provides financial assistance to child-laborers, enabling them to enrol into schools and access educational opportunities. We are supporting eight school-aged children from impoverished families to enable them to break the cycle of poverty, and enrol into schools. The support covers school enrolment costs, monthly school fees, a monthly allowance as well as English language and computer training.
Akademos Supplementary Learning Classes:
Akademos Supplementary Learning Classes provide free access to supplementary learning for disadvantaged children and child labourers who are unable to access educational opportunities elsewhere. More than 60 very needy children have attended three specially designed classes, located in Kabul and Bamiyan, Afghanistan to improve their literacy, numeracy and other social skills.
Akademos Education Grants:
Akademos education grants aim to improve access to educational opportunities for students through provision of one-off grants to students and educational organisations. Akademos has recently awarded a study grant to Masooma Moravej, who has braved street harassment and social stigma to run a small business in Kabul as well as continuing her education. The grant will cover Masooma's tuition fee for the duration of her University degree.
With your support, in 2020-21 we will support even more students to attain college and university education, enable many more children and young people to benefit from the gift of education.
None of this would be possible without your support and encouragement. Your donations enable these young girls and boys to continue their education, support their families, equip themselves with skills and knowledge and become responsible members of the society. Your donations enable Akademos Society to expand our programs and continue empowering the youth.
Donate today, and encourage your friends, family members, and peers to support. Every bit counts.
