In the context of the emergency and extreme violence in Ukraine today, having access to reliable and factual information becomes a vital issue for millions of people on a daily basis. This makes the work of local media even more crucial. Journalists working for these media have become targets. Supporting them has a direct impact on the populations affected by the conflict. It gives them access to useful, concrete, reliable information in Ukrainian language, through a bond of trust that proximity allows.
On the road to exile, refugees are easy prey for traffickers. Families are separated. Children left to their own devices. Women face situations of great vulnerability. Providing useful and reliable information to these refugees is a primary need. As well as giving them access to adapted psycho-social programs, specially designed to support them along their journey. It will allow them to keep a link with each other and with their country.
Supporting Ukrainian society also means helping it to defend itself under international law and to document the human rights violations it suffers. Ukrainian journalists need support to be able to testify, to explain the mechanisms, and to be heard in places of debate on international justice.
With its Ukrainian partners, Fondation Hirondelle is developing projects to meet these essential challenges. Help us to make them a reality: make a donation. Support access to essential information for those who need it most!
