My grandfather fought against the German occupation in Denmark in WWII (Freedom fighter) from end of 1942. He did not like to talk about it. One day he did tell a story. He was looking out of the window and saw 2 Gestapo soldiers going towards his apartment, he had a box of hand grenades in the place. He rushed my grandmother and sister to the balcony on the other side, to get them out of the home with the grenades. Then the Gestapo knocked on the door, but it was to the neighbors, they were coming to confiscate the truck they had. Freedom is not something we can take for granted.
