If you don't know – domestic violence, sexual assault & human trafficking are some of the most horrible and traumatic victims and families can go through. You then take that trauma and add a pandemic – which has forced us all to be isolated, some of us to wonder about what our financial futures look like, what the educational future looks like for our children, and the mental health of our families. For some, there are options, but for victims – options are very limited... if there are any options at all. Victims are forced to stay in situations because of a lack of financial opportunities, strong emotional ties, and a fear for the safety of themselves and those around them. We all know that these problems have no racial, economic, religious, gender barrier, however, we do know that minorities, undocumented individuals, and those from the LGBTQ community tend to suffer the most.
In this campaign, we want to be able to offer a safe place for victims who may need a place to stay while they heal and focus on getting stronger and more independent. We don't want to be another shelter that just puts a band-aid on a problem, but instead gives the time for the person(s) to restructure and take control of their future moving forward. We believe that it is our responsibility as residents of the community to be a part of the solution, but we can't do it by ourselves. We are asking for our community to help us help others, even if you are not a resident of our city. Your donation and investment into someone's safety and future is an investment in our nation as a whole.
We know that COVID-19 has caused financial hardships for some so we are asking for any donations that you feel comfortable with. All donations are tax-deductible and will be emailed out upon request. We truly appreciate your support.
