I have followed Ukraine's tragic history for decades. We Germans have tried to help Ukrainians to get their independence twice under tragic and less-than-ideal circumstances (1918 with the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, and then 1941-43 with the tragic intermingling of National-Socialist imperialism and racism). I hope that this time, with the help of the rest of the Western world, we will get it right. Слава Україні! Героям слава!

Glory to the heroes,so saddened over Ukrainian lives lost.All my life Russia has been the enemy,my mother was a refugee from Konigsberg(Kaliningrad) in 1945,crossed to the West escaping the Red terror.I wish for a free Konigsberg in my lifetime.
