Restrictions may be easing, but there is still a long road to recovery for our local artists. Community-raised funds from the Going the Distance campaign are already supporting five amazing projects by local artists, but more is needed to keep artists creating through the COVID-19 recovery period.
You can help.
We are asking you to support Canberra region artists through an ongoing monthly or one-off donation. Please give generously. 100% of funds received by Belco Arts will go towards paying artists from the Canberra region to deliver new public programs, delivered online, free of charge to the whole community.
A tantalising line-up of projects is ready to be funded: Canberra’s "sirens of satire" Sparrow-Folk would like to present an online sing-along spectacular of their beloved hits. Wouldn’t you like to go behind the scenes with graffiti muralist Byrd and discover more about being a street artist? In response to the new COVID-19 world, Mariana del Castillo is hoping to create an online exhibition of bespoke textile characters inspired by the beak masks worn by plague doctors. Choreographer and dancer Eliza Sanders would like to excite and get Canberra moving with a series of online “dance poetry” sessions, and for all the Canberra wine buffs out there, we are sure you would like Grace De Morgan, author of Everything Happens for a Riesling, who hopes to present her comedic series of online interviews with anthropomorphised wines.
Your ongoing support will sustain your local creative community, and help Canberra region artists to recover from the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19. Through your donation, you are supporting sustainable careers and fair pay for artists, the development of new work, and engagement with the community to help share a life-long love of the arts.
Together, we will go the distance.
Your donation is fully tax-deductible. Please pledge what you can, and let others know about how they can help.
