English-language Library in Angers

Since 1993, the English-language Library in Angers (ELLIA) has served as a vibrant literary, educational, and cross-cultural hub in western France. With a collection of over 20,000 books and more than 1,000 events each year—including book clubs, writing workshops, conversation groups, language classes, and film discussions—we connect English and French speakers through a shared love of language, learning, and literature.

Our library proudly serves 2,000 members from 76 countries, creating a welcoming space for dialogue, discovery, and community. Originating from a donation by the American Library in Paris, our collection and programming continue to grow, advancing our mission to promote English-language culture and foster global understanding.

Your gift helps us carry out the day-to-day educational and cultural programming that makes this community possible. Every donation supports our efforts to keep the library dynamic, inclusive, and accessible to all.

To ensure your generosity goes as far as possible, we kindly ask that all gifts over $5,000 be made by check or wire transfer to avoid platform fees.
