STEM Educational Programs Campaign
Currently the museum partners with the Joplin Regional Airport, the Civil Air Patrol Col. Travis B. Hoover Composite Squadron, Mizzou Aviation and Alpha Air Center to provide educational field trips to area students. Each year this partnership provides approximately 1400 students from public schools, home schools, private schools and community groups with A Day at The Airport field trip. Attendees learn the basics of airline travel, aerodynamics, airport operations, air traffic control and local aerospace history. Students also construct a STEM related project that conforms to Next Generation Science Standards.
Plans call for organizing after school and weekend STEM activities that will help students foster an interest in science, technology, engineering and math using aerospace topics.
