We have recently set up a sponsorship fund to support the education of young people in the Fatima community .
This is to enable local people to access the activities, and to keep them in education without being hindered by poverty.
Money will be used at the discretion of our workers in Brazil, they will be authorised to use it in situations where a child is at risk of being unable to continue in education. This could be through helping them to buy textbooks, helping a teenage mother pay a bus ticket for her to get to an exam in the city.
The aim of the fund is not to replace the families support, we will not offer continuous support to the same student all the time. Rather we will simply fill in the gaps where a student is in an unusually difficult circumstance.
Sponsors will receive a quarterly update about what the fund is used for. This will not necessarily include the names of beneficiaries due to privacy reasons. The purpose of these updates to to be transparent with all our giving, as well as to encourage donors on how their gifts are helping.
Please note that the trustees of the Good Shepherd Project reserve the right to re-classify donations to this fund for use in the wider operation of the charity. This will only be done in situations where they believe the charities operations are at risk of collapse.
